FLOYD MORGAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

In 2003 Holiday Quality Foods introduced the first ever Floyd Morgan Scholarship campaign. For the last three years we have given away 24 $1000.00 scholarship awards. Congratulations to the grant winners, they are as follows…

The primary qualifying criteria for the Holiday Quality Foods scholarship is centered on community service, which can include any volunteer work done to better the community in which the student resides. Examples include such things as working at community senior citizen or youth centers; local animal shelters; hospitals or other medical facilities.

The scholarship is open to students from charter schools, private and public high schools in the following counties where Holiday Quality Food stores are located: Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Tehama and Yuba.

Scholarships will be awarded to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who will be attending an accredited trade school, accredited community college or four-year college/university.

The Scholarship is named in honor of the late Floyd Morgan. He was the brother of the founder of Holiday Quality Foods, Rich Morgan Sr.… Floyd was a long time member of the Shasta County board of supervisors. He was an active member in the community and had a strong belief in higher education.

Why should our organization support Scrip cards from Holiday Quality Foods? How are these cards better than, “e-scrip” from Safeway or the “quality of life” card from Raley’s? Listed below are the contribution requirements for each dollar donation and actual percentages given.

Plus 3% on monthly purchases $500-$600
Plus 4% on monthly purchases above $600

Here’s how it works: if your monthly purchases totaled $525.00 your contribution earned would be $7.75.
$300x1% + $200x2% +$25x3%= $7.75 or 1.48%
